Question : #161 Category: Miscellaneous
Subject: angels who write our deeds
Question: The two angels who are ordained to scribe our deeds, both good and evil.

The question is, do they only write what we do (as an 'amal) or do they also write down what our intentions are?
Answer: Bismillah

Salaam Alaikum. Inshallah this finds you well. There are too many details to how the angles write and omit what they see of us. What we can briefly say is that we are told if a believer makes the intention to do a good deed, it will be recoded as though he/she did it. However, if they make the intention to commit a sin, it will not be recorded until and unless they commit that sin. There are indications in our hadith (narrations from our Holy Prophet and Imams) that suggest, the angles don't record it once the sin is committed either. Instead they wait for the end of that day and see whether the person repents or not. If the person repents, they don't even record it.
